The former premier told PTI National Council members that the ECP should refrain from conducting the next general elections under any circumstances, adding that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provincial assemblies have passed resolutions against the chief election commissioner as they have lost confidence in him.
He said that the PTI-led government had tried its best to introduce Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) to ensure "free and transparent elections". "But the chief election commissioner sabotaged our hard work to secure the system of rigging for two parties [PPP and PML-N]," he said.
"The ruling parties disagreed with holding elections through EVMs because they wanted to rig the elections. Before the by-elections in Punjab, our party was the only one preparing to stop the polls from getting rigged," the former prime minister said.
The PTI chief said that the ruling parties had plundered the nation over the last decade and left it mired in instability. "These parties were not interested in reviving the economy or curbing inflation but were only interested in obtaining NRO-II," he added.
