Local workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been booked in Khar tehsil of Bajaur Tribal District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday for allegedly staging a protest and pelting the building of a security and law enforcement branch of the government.
The first information report (FIR) was lodged on the complaint of a local police officer. In the FIR, he stated that after a local PTI leader and electoral candidate for NA-8 and PK-22, Rehan Zeb, was gunned down by unidentified armed assailants the other day, some PTI protesters incited the gathered crowd.
The FIR claimed that around 25 to 30 PTI workers gathered a crowd and incited them to protest.
It added that they also incited the crowd to move towards Civil Lines and to pelt the offices of the paramilitary Bajaur Scouts.
They were also accused of inciting the crowd to smash the doorway to the Civil Colony Saddar and of raising anti-state slogans.
On Wednesday, Rehan Zeb was canvassing in the Sadiqabad area of Bajaur when unidentified armed men shot and killed him. He was rushed to AHQ Hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Zeb was a member of the youth jirga and was an active social worker. He was also the local head of PTI's student wing.
After the party overlooked him for an electoral ticket, he was contesting the elections as an independent.
