Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is at its lowest ebb in its 40-year history in terms of narrative building and decision-making, says Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s former focal-person on digital media Ahmad Jawad.

“The last six months have been crucial in terms of the this narrative among the masses,” Jawad, who resigned from his role four days ago, said while speaking to Shahid Maitla on his YouTube channel.

He added that he deemed PML-N president —aka PM Shehbaz— powerless, saying the decisions are made by Maryam Nawaz on the directions of her father and party supremo, Nawaz Sharif, and she is the one leading the party and its narrative.

“If you look at it, it’s not the premier’s fault; he was brought to power as a result of a compromise,” he said.

Jawad added, “Maryam has done a lot but whatever that has happened in the past six months is a cause for concern as she was unable to lead the party’s narrative on social media at par with its arch-rivals.”

He claimed that the PM’s decision to appoint him as the digital media focal-person wasn't seen as acceptable by other stakeholders. “The premier himself expressed his frustration at the plunge in PML-N’s popularity and spoke about the party running in circles.”

The former focal-person said, “I’ve advised PM Shehbaz to resign. The top leaders of the party too realize they are losing the game.”

On Arshad Sharif, Jawad urged all to wait for the probe’s outcome, stressing that pressers should be held by officials only.
