A sit-in against the killing of three Levies personnel in Ziarat has entered its sixth day. The protestors have placed the bodies of three slain Levies personnel on the National Highway and are demanding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incident. They are also calling for action against the Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel as well the district administration for failing to provide security in the district.

Three Levies personnel were killed and several others were injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in Ziarat last Thursday. The explosion occurred near Mangi Dam.

Families of the deceased have been demanding justice and have refused to bury the bodies until their demands are heard. They are calling for the formation of a judicial commission to probe the incident.

As part of their protest, families of the deceased blocked traffic on the main highway for a few hours on August 28.

Traders in the district also went on a strike; shops remained closed in Ziarat, Muslim Bagh, Khanozai, Qila Saifullah, Zhob and Laura Lai in protest against the killing of the Levies personnel.

Even though social media is filled with images from the sit-in at Ziarat, the sit-in is yet to be reported on mainstream media.
