Police Probe Alleged Desecration Of Holy Quran In Jhelum

The police have started investigating the case of the alleged desecration of the Holy Quran in the suburbs of Jhelum district, Punjab province. Modern technology is also being used in police investigations. According to the police, initially all the CCTV footage has been seized from Mahmoodabad, and the copy of the Holy Quran that was burned will also be sent for forensic examination after consultation with senior officers. According to the police, they have started the investigation of the case, which is in its initial stages. Hopefully, they will reach a conclusion soon.

According to Muhammad Ali, the plaintiff in the case, the incident of setting fire to the copies of the Quran and Hadith took place on the evening of March 29, but the case was registered on March 31 around 8 a.m.

Sections 295A and 295B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) have been included in the First Information Report (FIR).

While talking to Naya Daur TV, the investigating officer of the case, Raja Murtaza Firdous, said that the incident is being investigated with the help of modern equipment and cameras. According to the investigating officer, CCTV footage has been obtained from the incident. The accused will be identified after a detailed examination of these videos, as the plaintiff has not named any accused and no one has yet identified the accused.

According to the plaintiff, the incident was reported at the Kala Gujran police station, after which the police reached the spot and questioned the parents of the child who found the burned pages of the Holy Quran in the park.

It is pertinent to mention here that in 2015, following the desecration of the Quran in Jhelum, the situation became tense after a worship place of the Ahmadi community was set on fire in Kala Gujran.
