The assertion was made by the former prime minister while recording his statement before Islamabad District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar.
According to Article 63(1)(p) of the Constitution, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified the former prime minister in the Toshakhana reference on October 21 of last year for making "false statements and incorrect declarations."
In a statement based on 35 questions put forth by the court, Imran Khan said that Brigadier Cheema is a significant and pertinent figure throughout the entire episode.
He asked the court to call the defendant so that his statement could be recorded in the case.
When the court questioned Khan on his satisfaction with his replies, Khan said "Yes."
Imran Khan further stated that the Toshakhana case had been registered for political reasons. "Both the prosecution witnesses were puppets of the government," he claimed.
Barrister Gohar requested two days to present the witnesses before the hearing was adjourned by the court.
"We need time to develop the list because it hasn't yet been created," he explained.
Meanwhile, the ECP's lawyer argued against the extension of time.
Judge Dilawar then adjourned the hearing and instructed the lawyer to ensure that the list of private witnesses was provided today (Wednesday).
