An additional and sessions court in Islamabad has granted police a two-day physical remand of AML chief Sheikh Rasheed in a case filed against him for his remarks against PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the counsel, Sheikh Rasheed had alleged during an interview on Jan 27 that the former president was working on a plot to assassinate PTI chairman Imran Khan.

According to the FIR, the ex-interior minister had attempted to defame the former president, and created a permanent threat to him and his family.

It termed the remarks an attempt to create conflict between the PPP and PTI on the basis of a "fabricated and baseless conspiracy" to disturb the law and order situation of the country.

Last month, Imran Khan accused PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari and ‘powerful agencies’ of the country of being behind a plot to kill him.

“Asif Ali Zardari is behind a Plan ‘C’ to kill me and he has given money to a terrorist organisation for the purpose,” he had told his supporters.

“The facilitators in this are the people belonging to powerful agencies [of the country],” he maintained.

According to the former premier, “It is a decision that has been made from three sides.”

He had also said that Asif Zardari has unlimited money that he has gotten from Sindh government and he also uses it to buy loyalties of the MPs during Senate’s elections.

“I have written out their names so that people may know. They want to get me out of the way using any means that they can.”

The PTI chief had further claimed that the conspirers wanted to defeat the former ruling party in the elections with such tactics.

“When I revealed the conspiracy hatched earlier, during a party rally, they made a retreat from it.”

“The Plan ‘B’ was plotted with the aim to target me under the garb of desecration of the religion. They conducted a campaign for the plan and had neared its success, but life and death are in Allah’s hands,” Imran had said.

During his address, he had reiterated that he would take to the streets when he is better and will not be ‘confined’ by such threats.
