Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Sunday met with former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi and attempted once again to return to the party. But the talks fell apart.

Chaudhry Shujaat on Sunday met with Parvez Elahi at the camp jail in Lahore. He was accompanied by Chaudhry Salik and Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain.

During their meeting, the two discussed the emerging political situation in the country. Shujaat attempted to convince Elahi to forget about the PTI and return to the PML-Q.

We were once together; we can be together again, Shujaat is reported to have told Elahi. He added that unity can bring betterment for all of them.

While reports suggested that Elahi is amenable to the idea, the sticking point has been his son, Moonis Elahi, who is adamant about remaining loyal to the PTI.

Shujaat has reportedly asked Elahi to convince his son and family to change their minds.

Ahead of the meeting, doctors from a medical board visited Elahi and conducted a medical exam in which they gave him a good bill of health. While they prescribed some tests, they were of the considered view that Elahi did not need to be shifted to a hospital for advanced treatment.
