These comments were made by the former chief minister of Punjab today as he was being brought before a court.
Parvez Elahi was detained by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) a day earlier in connection with a case alleging corruption involving Rs70 million in development money designated for the Gujrat district, in which his bail was denied.
Before making an appearance, Elahi told reporters, "I am innocent and a supporter of the Pakistan Army." The former CM asked party members and supporters to "stay strong."
Elahi recalled that he didn't make any political cases against anyone and attributed his current situation to Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
It should be mentioned that although one complaint has been filed in Lahore against the former chief minister, two cases have been launched in Gujranwala against him on accusations of accepting bribes in contract awards.
Earlier, Elahi was given non-bailable arrest warrants by a special judge at the Lahore anti-corruption court, who also ordered the authorities to turn him in by June 2. For the PTI leader, two arrest warrants have been issued. Following the revocation of bail, the first one was granted on May 25, and the second one on May 26.
An anti-corruption squad had already arrived at his house to make an arrest. He couldn't be detained, though.
Elahi's neighborhood had been blocked off by the Punjab Police and Elite Force, who had also forbidden any access to or departure from the home.
According to a case brought by the ACE Gujranwala in April, the former chief minister of Punjab was charged with accepting a Rs 2 billion bribe in exchange for a contract for a construction project.
In a separate instance, FIR No. 6/23 was filed against Elahi for accepting an Rs120 million bribe from a Turkish firm on behalf of an international group.
Elahi's medical certificate, which indicated that he had been having chest trouble, was also pronounced a forgery by the anti-corruption court judge.
