Elahi felicitated LHCBA President Ishtiaq A Khan, General Secretary Sabahat Rizvi and other office-bearers on their victory in the recently held bar elections.
Jahangir A Jhojha, Safdar Hayat Bosal, Arshad Jhojha, Asif Mehmood Cheema and others were present on the occasion. The lawyers thanked the PML-Q leader for his support.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the matters related to the supremacy of Constitution and law.
The former chief minister said that the PML-N is worried about its political future becoming dark, PDM is seeing its political demise in the name of election, and those coming to power through 'auction instead of election' are seeing the end of their politics after the elections.
He said the 'mafia' in the government is interpreting the Constitution per its liking, adding no conspiracy against the judiciary will be tolerated.
Elahi added that if the government attempts to use Constitution and the judiciary for its gains, political leaders and lawyers will forcefully resist it.
He highlighted that the PTI had decided to start its electoral campaign forthwith; Imran Khan will formally launch the electoral campaign on Saturday evening.
He noted that the lawyers' struggle for the supremacy of Constitution and the law has always remained prominent, despite oppressive tactics.
Elahi said lawyers have been raising their voice against this, and today, too, they are fighting the battle.
In a historic first, the LHCBA elected Sabahat Rizvi as its secretary, on Saturday. She bagged 4,310 votes while her rivals, Mian Irfan and Qadir Baksh Chahal got 3,745 and 2,627 votes, respectively.
Another female candidate Rabbiya Bajwa made it to the post of vice president of the association, with 3,590 votes.
The candidatures were welcomed by a majority of the legal fraternity. Both women are known for their progressive approach and struggle for human rights.
