PTI, PML-N Former Lawmakers From South Punjab Join PPP

A couple of former lawmakers, largely from South Punjab and members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN), have joined the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

These Seraiki belt lawmakers visited PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday at the Bilawal House in Islamabad and declared they were joining the PPP, according to a statement posted by the Pakistan People's Party on Twitter.

The politicians were Malik Faiz Ahmed Khakh Advocate, Rana Intizar Ahmed, Mian Amir Vattu, and Masood Majeed Daha. Syed Haroon Ahmad Sultan Bukhari, Chaudhry Asghar Jat, Syed Jameel Shah, and Rana Intizar Ahmed Bukhari, a resident of Muzaffargarh, were previously elected on the PML-N platform and held the position of provincial minister. While Jameel Shah, who served as an MPA from Khanewal, was formerly a member of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Asghar Jat was elected to the National Assembly from Wahari on the PTI platform. A PML-N member from Khanewal was Jameel Shah. Intizar Ahmed, a Bahawalnagar native, quit the PTI to join the PPP, and Faiz Ahmed Khakh, a Muzaffargarh native, was a member of the PML-Q.

Masood Majeed Daha, who presided over the Khanewal municipal committee, belonged to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, while Mian Amir Vattu served as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's central vice president prior. Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed the politicians for joining the party. Yusuf Raza Gilani, a former prime minister, Syed Ahmed Mahmood, Syed Murtaza Mahmood, Syed Mustafa Mahmood, Malik Mazhar Pahor, the Pakistan Peoples Party's Muzaffargarh District General Secretary, Malik Fayyaz Ahmed Khakh Advocate, and Abdul Qadir Shaheen were also present on the occasion.
