Three Lahore High Court (LHC) judges, including Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, and Justice Alia Neelum, have received threatening letters, said the LHC Registrar Office on Wednesday.
The three judges who received the thretening letters serve on the administrative body.
Following the incident, counter-terrorism personnel arrived at the LHC, where security was reinforced.
A forensic team has also arrived at court to investigate the letters. The CCTV cameras installed across the high court are also being examined.
It is pertinent to mention here that eight judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), including Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, had received "suspected anthrax-laced letters" the day before.
After the eight IHC judges received "suspicious letters containing suspected anthrax powder along with a threatening message," a police team of experts conducted a detailed investigation to gather information and identify the powdery material.
According to the authorities, the letter was submitted by a lady named Resham without providing her address.
They said that a judge's clerk unintentionally dropped the package carrying the mysterious powdery material, causing significant irritation in his eyes and burns on the skin around his lips.
The threatening letters to high court judges surfaced after the Supreme Court took suo motu notice and appointed a seven-member panel chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to hear the case after the six IHC justices accused spy agencies of interfering in judicial matters.
Aside from the Chief Justice, the bench includes Justices Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Yahya Afridi, Athar Minallah, Mussarat Hilali, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, and Naeem Akhtar Afghan.
