Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Iftikhar Durrani went "missing" in the early hours of Thursday, according to the party.

PTI said in a statement that a key member of its party had been "kidnapped" from Islamabad and that it was gathering details about his kidnapping.

After several hours, there has still been no confirmation of the location of Durrani, who worked as a special assistant in media for ex-prime minister Imran Khan.

Since the May 9 riots, when irate protestors destroyed government and military facilities as a result of Imran Khan's imprisonment, PTI members and leaders have experienced arrests, rearrests, and other issues.

For their alleged involvement and provocation against the military leadership, the authorities have filed multiple cases against the PTI senior leadership.

Following the chaos of May 9, a number of well-known figures, including Parvez Khattak, Fawad Chaudhry, and Shireen Mazari, left the PTI and some even politics.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan was the mastermind of May 9, according to recent statements made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to the prime minister, this "Black Day, as it is known in the military, involved men, women, a cabal, some army personnel, and their families.

"Those responsible for the events of May 9 desired to topple the military command."

PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari fiercely denounced Durrani's "abduction".

"It only occurs against one party in Pakistan today: You get kidnapped in the middle of the night with no cases against you, and your family gets harassed," he added.
