Seven soldiers have embraced martyrdom while 13 militants were killed following twin terrorist attacks on Frontier Corps (FC) bases in both Panjgur and Naushki in Balochistan, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid confirmed on Thursday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants waged the attacks late Wednesday night.  Rashid said that four to five terrorists were still engaged in battle, although they had been surrounded by armed forces.

“[The terrorists] would be eliminated soon. This is yet another success that Pakistan Army has achieved against terrorism,” the interior minister said in a video message posted on Twitter.

Recounting the battles, ISPR said terrorists attacked the FC camp in Pangjur from two sides, but troops reacted quickly and quashed their attempts, leading the terrorists to flee.

In Naushki, four terrorists were killed as they charged the FC camp there. One officer was confirmed by ISPR to have been killed in the initial attack.

Last month, a series of terrorist attacks across Balochistan caused dozens of both civilian and armed forces casualties. At least 10 soldiers were reportedly killed in Kech, Balochistan when a group or militants fired on a military camp there during a night-time raid. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has reportedly claimed responsibility for that attack.
