Karachi, Pakistan's most populated city, ranked second in the list of most polluted cities on Wednesday, with an air quality index of 198.

Lahore's Air Quality Index (AQI) was reported at 162, ranking the city as the ninth most polluted in the world on Wednesday.

Chilly winds continued to offer a challenge to Lahore residents. The current temperature is eight degrees Celsius. The weather office showed a low temperature of six degrees Celsius and a high temperature of twelve degrees Celsius in the provincial capital of Punjab province.

The meteorological department predicted no rain for the next three days, including today (Tuesday).

Earlier, despite three holidays over the weekend, Lahore's air quality remained dangerously poisonous, and the 'City of Gardens' was named the world's second-most polluted city on Tuesday.

Due to the existence of heavy smog clouds, Lahore's AQI was reported at 288 on Tuesday morning, exceeding the World Health Organization's air quality limits by 48 times.

The air quality index in Garden Town and its environs was 572; 462 in Gulberg and its neighboring regions; and 454 in Defence and its surrounds. 368 in Garhi Shahu and other areas, and 362 on The Mall Road and its surroundings.

According to international monitors, the average air quality index is 50 or below.

The Indian city of New Delhi topped the list of the world's most polluted cities.

The polluted air has caused serious respiratory issues and other diseases among inhabitants, prompting physicians to advise them to wear masks while venturing outside their homes.
