Meanwhile in a separate event, a US Central Command team will be coming to Pakistan to asses the floods and the damage incurred. CENTCOM Commander in a telephonic conversation with Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed grief and offered condolences over the 1,200 lives lost due to the flooding.

CENTCOM spokesman Colonel Joe Buccino said on Friday that CENTCOM will be sending an assessment team to Islamabad to determine the nature of support the Department of Defence (DoD) can provide to USAID as part of the United States' assistance Pakistan amidst the flood crisis.

This development follows the United State's pledge to donate $30 million to Pakistan in life-saving humanitarian assistance to help the flood victims on August 31. Additionally, the US also provided over $1.1 million in grants and project support earlier in August, in order to ensure the aid is utilized most effectively.
