Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan has changed the venue of party’s protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja to Islamabad’s F-9 Park, instead of outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)'s headquarters as previously announced.

In a tweet, the former premier said that the CEC and the ECP, in connivance with the government, “conspired to try a technical knockout against the PTI after the PML-N got routed in the Punjab by-elections despite support of entire state machinery and ECP shenanigans”.

“Now, they are cowering in fear about the same happening to the entire PDM [Pakistan Democratic Movement] in general elections,” he said.

“Today, I am calling all our people to come out in [a] peaceful public protest against the CEC and ECP in F-9 Park at 6pm. I will be addressing the gathering between 7-7:30pm,” he added.

Meanwhile, Islamabad's district administration sealed the “Red Zone” and placed containers at the entry points of the federal capital.

Moreover, the government has deployed personnel of law enforcement agencies including anti-riot force, Rangers, FC and police around the high-security area.

Earlier, the PTI chief had urged his supporters to gather outside the ECP’s office in Islamabad to demand Raja’s resignation.
