Pakistani weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt has won Pakistan its first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and social media users couldn't be prouder of him.

Butt's gold-medal winning lift involved him lifting a record total of 405 kg in the +109 kg category of the Commonwealth Games heavy-lifting event on Wednesday.

24-year-old Butt hails from Gujranwala and lifted 173 kg in his first attempt in the snatch portion of the event, as well as 232 kg during the Clean and Jerk category, which brought his total up to 405 kg, earning him the gold medal for Pakistan.

Since then, social media has been full of praise for the young weightlifter, who was targeting the Tokyo Olympics but had to step back after he sustained a thigh injury.
