A heavy rainstorm battered sections of Karachi for the second day on Sunday, leaving several portions of the port city swamped in floodwaters.
Surjani, North Karachi, Buffer Zone, Nagan Chowrangi, Scheme 33, and the adjacent regions witnessed heavy to moderate rainfall on the second day.
Earlier today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that Karachi's weather will stay gloomy, with occasional rain in various sections of the city.
The metropolis' current temperature is 19.9 degrees Celsius, with winds blowing from the northeast at 8 kilometers per hour, according to the PMD. During the day, winds are forecast to gust between 20 and 25 kilometers per hour.
The Met Office reported 92% humidity in the city.
Several portions of the city, including key roads, remain congested because rainfall has yet to be drained. This covers Qayyumabad Chowrangi, II Chundrigar Road, Burns Road, Arts Council, Korangi Industrial Area Road from Godown Chowrangi to Chamra Chowrangi, and the Shah Faisal Colony area near the Shama Centre. As a result, individuals have to travel considerable distances to reach their intended destinations.
However, rainwater has been drained from Safoora Chowrangi, Gurumandir, Hassan Square, and Essa Nagri.
Several places had hours-long power disruptions owing to heavy rain. Electricity supply to Gulistan-e-Johar Block 8 and Jamshed Road has been cut off since Saturday night.
Heavy rain, thunder, and lighting Rainwater coupled with sewage pouring from blocked pipes wreaked havoc in sections of Karachi on Saturday night, flooding homes and hospitals.
Downpours were reported in Baldi Town, Orangi Town, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Korangi, Landhi, DHA, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Orangi Town, Bahria Town, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Tower, Liaquatabad, and Nazimabad.
Parts of the city's major artery, Sharea Faisal, were entirely flooded with water, and hundreds of vehicles broke down, severely disrupting traffic flow on Saturday night.
The city administration's lack of an emergency reaction indicated that they were caught off guard by the rain and had no plans in place.
