The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been nominated as the party's candidate for prime minister in the next general elections scheduled to be held on February 8.

The decision was made by the PPP's top decision-making body, the Central Executive Committee (CEC), which convened on Wednesday at Bilawal House in Lahore to discuss the party's general election campaign.

Bilawal is also running from NA-127 Lahore, where he will face off against PML-N leader Shaista Pervaiz Malik and a PTI-backed candidate.

The CEC meeting also discussed the party's electoral agenda, which agreed to prioritize youth and women's empowerment, jobs, health, and education.

It also expressed full trust in Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's leadership.

The conference was attended by PPP leaders, including Secretary General Taj Haider, Syed Khursheed Shah, Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Murad Ali Shah, Chaudhry Aslam Gill, and Ali Badr.

Later, in a conversation with the media, Bilawal stated that he had resolved to contest the election in Lahore, whether anyone liked it or not.

Bilawal also said, "Gen Zia imposed the PML-N on us, and Gen Faiz Hameed imposed the PTI."

He said that both the PML-N and the PTI represented the governing elite. Both were unable to solve the difficulties that the country was facing. He stated that the PPP was the only party that always released its vision and agenda before elections and prioritized people.

He said the PPP planned to establish energy parks in each district headquarters and give free power to up to 300 units.

He said, "After winning the elections, the PPP will provide free and high-quality education to people." He stated that employee salaries would be boosted by 200% and the BISP network would be enlarged.

Bilawal thanked the PPP Central Executive Committee for selecting him for the position of Prime Minister.

He denounced the incidents of terrorism in the country, stating that vital decisions would have to be made to bring the country out of crisis.
