The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo is scheduled to meet with the Saudi royal family. Important matters, including investment in Pakistan, will be discussed during the meeting. Maryam Nawaz has also arrived in Saudi Arabia, along with his father.
Nawaz Sharif will perform Umrah during his stay in Saudi Arabia. He will leave for London after spending 10 days in Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that Nawaz Sharif would be the party's candidate for prime minister if he returned to the country and ran in the forthcoming general elections.
While speaking at a private news channel, Dar said, "Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif, we all want him (Nawaz) to return to the country and lead the country as he is the only statesman left according to our analysis."
Nawaz, who has been residing in London since November 2019 due to a medical condition, will return to his own country after his medical care is over, he added.
The minister said that since parliament recently passed an amended election law limiting public office holders' disqualification periods to a maximum of five years, there is no legal barrier for the three-time premier to run in elections despite being disqualified for life in 2017.
