But then how can one deny the reality when it has been caught on camera? Such a video has emerged in Gulistan e Johar block 4, K.D.A scheme 36 in Karachi. A man can be seen stopping and waiting for a female to come by. In the meantime he pulls down his shorts and attempts to assault an girl who is simply walking by.
This is the kind of behaviour that is all too common and now that it has been caught on camera, the question that arises is how do we ensure this does not happen again?
More importantly it is important to understand that the man supposedly was riding a motorcycle with no number plate which means in all likelihood it will be difficult, if not impossible, to trace him down. This kind of activity enables such horrific acts and prevent justice from being carried out.
The young girl on the other hand had to physically fight him off and thankfully managed to escape but there is absolutely no denying the trauma she must be going through and reliving the incident in her mind. This is no way to live nor should she be fearful of going out on the street again. But it is a reality for her. And for what? A man who simply thought he had the right to do so just because he's a male? Unacceptable.
