Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chair Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday strongly condemned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan's verbal attack on the military, saying that the PTI chief has 'crossed every line' to spread chaos in the country.

His remarks came following the assassination attempt on Imran Khan on Thursday, which the PTI chief blamed on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and a senior army official named Major General Faisal.

In a tweet, the former president said that he strongly condemned the 'spewing of venom' against state agencies. "This person cares neither about the wellbeing of the country, nor of its institutions," he wrote, adding, "This person only seeks power and more power."

The survival of the country depends on the survival of institutions and we will not tolerate any attack on them, said President Asif Zardari, adding that the country and its institutions have fought the common enemy since 1947, and will continue to do so.

"This time the enemy has attacked us from within," he said, adding that the sacrifices of the martyrs cannot be forgotten, and the ploys of this enemy will also be thwarted.
