Two minor girls, aged 15 and 12, were allegedly sexually assaulted on Friday by two brothers who work as fruit vendors on the Ravi Road in Lahore.
According to the first information report (FIR), the men enticed the underage street beggars with promises of providing rations. They lured them into a factory claiming it was a ration distribution spot. After entering the factory, the suspects raped the two girls.
Hearing screams of the girls, a security guard raced into the premises and discovered them lying in a critical condition while the perpetrators managed to flee.
The guard gathered locals people and notified the police. Later, the family of the survivors also arrived at the scene. The victims have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Police said that a team from the forensics department and investigators are probing the incident. Swabs for DNA testing are being gathered, while footage captured by closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed around the neighbourhood are being carefully reviewed to gather information on the suspects.
In their statement, the girls said the suspects repeatedly raped them and, upon hearing their screams, sought to pacify them by offering to marry them if they did not inform anyone about the incident.
