The ECP issued notices to Imran Khan on Friday, asking him to appear before the ECP on August 23 regarding the prohibited funding case filed against his party by founding member Akbar S Babar.
The case titled “Notice to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in terms of Rule 6 of Political Parties Rules 2006, in compliance of judgement by the commission dated Aug 2 in case title Akbar Sher Babar” has been fixed for hearing on Aug 23, at 10 AM.
The ECP also issued notices to Imran regarding his disqualification, which is to be heard on August 16.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which had reserved its verdict in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prohibited funding case, has unanimously found that PTI received prohibited funds.
Previously on Tuesday, a three-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander (CEC) Sultan Raja had found the PTI to be guilty of prohibited funding, in a decision which was originally supposed to be announced on June 21st, but had been reserved.
The ECP also accepted a reference filed by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) MNAs seeking to disqualify Imran Khan, and has set the date for the hearing on that front to be on August 18.
