Asad Umar, the former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was hospitalized on Tuesday after experiencing chest pain during a court appearance in Lahore. Umar, who is currently facing several legal challenges linked to the May 9 riots and the cypher case, was quickly attended to by medical professionals.

Initial reports indicated that while his ECG was normal, his blood pressure had dropped, likely due to taking medication on an empty stomach. However, the hospital has confirmed that his condition is now stable following treatment.

Previously, Umar had suffered a back injury in Karachi on June 9 and was hospitalized for that issue as well.

On November 11, 2023, he resigned from PTI and exited politics, having stepped down from his role as the party's secretary general on May 24 following the riots.
