Two days after the detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder received respite in the cipher case, Rana Sanaullah, adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, stated that fresh cases against Imran Khan will be brought in the coming days.

While giving an interview to a private news channel, Sanaullah said the PTI founder's release was not reliant on the outcome of his iddat case. He assessed that an accused would be given the benefit of the doubt under Pakistani law.

"Doubts may be raised in a simple manner. We once observed back-to-back sentences without creating doubts. The iddat issue is likely to raise questions, just as the cipher case did," he said.

He believed that the iddat case was being referred to as a "personal matter" of a politician, despite the fact that public personalities do not have private matters.

The former interior minister stated that Khan was nominated in cases where people confessed to their crimes.

While responding to a question about the possibility of the filing of fresh cases against Imran Khan, Sanaullah agreed that new cases would be filed in the coming days. He mentioned the former premier's controversial post on X, formerly Twitter, and hinted that a case may be filed based on video evidence.

Last week, the Federal Intelligence Agency's (FIA) anti-cybercrime squad launched an inquiry into the highly publicized post.

"Every Pakistani should study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," the tweet stated.
