A Pakistani delegation led by Foreign Minister Sahibzada Yaqub Khan arrives in Oman in 1982, on the first leg of its tour of three Gulf countries. The visit was a key moment in the Zia regime's ties with the GCC countries, especially Muscat.

The foreign minister, who had taken office the same year, is accompanied by Additional Secretary (Middle East) Shahid Amin, Secretary (EAD) Ejaz Naik, and Director (Gulf) Tariq Osman Hyder. They were received by Ambassador Abdul Ghayur and the Omani Minister in waiting - an old friend from Khan's Paris posting.

The delegation was flown to Salalah to meet Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, the modernizer of Oman. The delegation then left for the UAE, which provided their own plane to them to travel on to Bahrain.
