MQM founder Altaf Hussain has termed the recent ruling by a UK court in the properties case unjust, saying the court didn't take into account several key factors related to the matter.
The Judge Clive Jones' judgment took away six of Altaf's London properties that are worth about £10 million.
Addressing a presser in London, Altaf announced that he has asked his lawyers to appeal the verdict at the Court of appeal if the first one before the judge is rejected. It isn't cleat yet as to when the appeal will be filed.
Altaf, on the occasion, asked Home Secretary Suella Braverman to take notice of the outcome of the case, calling it a “travesty of justice”.
“I am aware that over here the British government doesn’t interfere in courts, but they must take note as this decision has implications for the justice system," he said.
The MQM founder added, "This decision has raised several questions about the British justice system which enjoys a good reputation around the world.”
He claimed that he has been victimised, and that the case at hand is a result of that campaign against him.
Altaf accused MQM-P of playing 'into the hands of the establishment' by first ousting him from his property and then naming him in the case. He went on to add that the party produced a forged document in the case.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Insolvency and Companies Court determined that MQM leader and Federal Minister Syed Amin-ul-Haque has the legal authority to file a claim for the Trust’s properties because he represented the real and legitimate MQM, which is based in Pakistan, and is, as a result, a beneficiary of the six London properties.
In his verdict, the judge stated that the MQM founder had left MQM-P following his address on August 23.
