Israel has intensified its assaults across the Gaza Strip, particularly near hospitals and in the southern portion of the besieged area where ground operations are being intensified, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday.
As of December 6, 6:00 a.m. local time (04:00 GMT), 16,510 Palestinians, including at least 7,112 children, had been killed in Gaza and the West Bank, according to the most recent casualty data given by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
In addition, according to Al Jazeera, at least 46,981 Palestinians have suffered injuries.
Al Jazeera, citing the Israeli army, reports that since October 7, 1,147 people have died and 8,730 have been injured in Israel.
On November 10, authorities changed the number of fatalities from 1,405 to "roughly 1,200."
With Gaza under constant Israeli bombing, the UN chief has issued a warning, predicting that "public order will completely break down soon due to the desperate conditions" in the region.
"Quickly degenerating into a catastrophe with potentially irreversible implications for Palestinians as a whole," Secretary-General Antonio Guterres wrote to the president of the Security Council, expressing concern over the humanitarian situation amidst the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Additionally, Guterres issued a warning, stating that there was a chance that the conflict in the Gaza Strip might "aggravate existing threats to international peace and security."
The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries demanded on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas cease their hostilities in Gaza for additional humanitarian reasons.
"To address the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and reduce civilian casualties, more immediate action is required.” Following a virtual conference, the G7 leaders released a joint statement saying, "We support and encourage further humanitarian pauses to enable this."
