Sabre flies over Karachi (1958)

An F-86 American Sabre flies over Karachi during a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) display in 1958. The transonic jet fighter was likely a part of the fleet of 120 such aircraft received from the US in 1954.

The speedy, maneuverable Sabre proved a formidable asset during for the PAF in dogfights during the 1965 war. Despite the Indian air force's numerical advantage, Pakistan is said to have dominated the air warfare during the 22 day battle.

Pakistan claimed its Sabre aircraft shot down nine IAF Hunters, four Vampires and two Gnats. India admitted a loss of 14 combat aircraft to the PAF's F-86s
