The publication reported that Khan is likely to be arrested in the evening and that the entire process will not take more than 20 minutes. The authorities concerned have also devised a mechanism to avoid resistance from the PTI workers, the newspaper reported, citing sources.
The report published by the Daily Jang also stated that there could be 48 to 400 people inside Zaman Park, the residence of the PTI chief in Lahore. Therefore, a large contingent of police will not be required to arrest Imran Khan.
The newspaper also reported that Imran Khan arrest will reveal that his leg injury has been recovered as the medical board will examine him thoroughly.
On February 6, 2023, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the government was ready to take PTI chairman Imran Khan into custody as soon as he begins his ‘jail bharo tehreek', as announced.
Criticizing the PTI leadership for “creating troubles”, the minister said the party’s protest in 2014 was an attempt to stop the country’s journey of progress, and the former premier is on the path of politics of agitation once again, this time on the pretext of the election schedule.
On the aforesaid movement, Sanaullah hoped ‘Imran Khan would be placed in the same death cell where he himself was during his arrest.’
The party stalwart on the occasion dismissed the impression that the ruling party wasn’t ready for general elections, saying ‘the PML-N will win the polls and form its government in Punjab.
It is pertinent to mention here that Khan had announced to launch a ‘jail bharo tehreek’, saying he would make a formal announcement in this regard soon.
Addressing his supporters via video link, the former premier had told the party’s leaders and workers to wait for his call to initiate the movement. According to Imran, the campaign would help convey to the ruling coalition who people will side with.
