In an interview with Indian Express, Ranbir disclosed that while filmmaker Ayan Mukerji had a concept for the sequel, he was preoccupied with Brahmastra at the time.
"Ayan also had a very nice story, I remember, but he then went into this Brahmastra journey," the actor was quoted as saying. Never say never, though. Maybe in a few years, he'll succeed."
The ‘Rockstar’ actor also discussed potential ideas for Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani 2's storyline.
"I believe the story will be set 10 years in the future where Bunny, Naina, Avi, and Aditi are in their lives," said Ranbir. Exploring those characters should be pretty intriguing and pleasant.
The actor had discussed the idea of creating a sequel in 2018.
He said, "Ayan is traveling to manufacture Brahmastra, which takes a lot of time. However, we have discussed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani 2 frequently.
He also has a suggestion, but he doesn't often state that it would have made for a simpler movie if we had done it that way. Since he is driving himself insane while shooting this movie, it will be simpler than Brahmastra. You can't be sure. Maybe there is a window of six months between Brahmastra Parts 1 and 2.
Ye Jawani Hai Deewani, which was directed by Ayan Mukerji and starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and Aditya Roy Kapur in the key parts, was released in 2013, according to News 18.
