Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday stated that his party hopes to make significant gains in the upcoming elections, particularly in South Punjab.

He said this while inaugurating the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences campus in Thatta on Monday. He hoped that the project proves to be a game changer for residents of Thatta.

The chief minister claimed that the general elections would be held within three months as per the Constitution. He predicted that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) would secure a landslide victory from across the country to form a federal government.

He said his party had roots in three provinces, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He added that his party hopes to achieve great success in Punjab this time.

Shah stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has always been a stronghold for the PPP in the past but owing to some unavoidable circumstances, they had lost their footing in the province. But now, they have worked hard to ensure their resurgence in the upcoming elections.

"We are going on a leave and will soon return to Karachi and serve the people of Sindh with the same spirit," he stated while responding to a question from a journalist.

He said that the people of Sindh have always reposed their trust in the PPP and that he expects the same in the upcoming elections.

Earlier, while inaugurating the college, he hoped its establishment would be a significant milestone in strengthening the district's higher education and healthcare systems.

"The concept of the International College is in line with the global economic development based on the `Knowledge economy'. He gave examples of developed countries such as the UK and the USA, saying that their economy was largely based on higher educational institutions.

Shah hoped that the institute would not only prove to be a landmark in the improvement of higher education in Sindh but also has the potential to make a considerable contribution towards the region's economic development.

"Our mission is to produce competent and skilled healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and technical staff," he said, adding that the graduates from this institute would not only serve locally but graduates could also join the global workforce, which would bring a good name to the province.

He said that the PPP had always taken measures to uplift the standard of remote areas.

After the Inauguration ceremony, while talking to media men, he announced financial compensation for the train incident victims near Nawabshah on Sunday.

"Families of those who lost their lives to the tragic incident would be given 1 million rupees as compensation while injured would get two to five lac rupees as compensation," he said, adding that he had directed all the concerned authorities to facilitate bereaved families and injured who were under treatment.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by MPA Riaz Shah Shira, Ali Hassan Zardari, and other government officials. The campus would be made functional next year, and the building of the IBA campus had already been allocated for this.
