Contrary to previous denials of rising inflation in Pakistan, the prime minister told the armed forces during a ceremony at Naushki that Pakistan had been experiencing inflation.
"I do realise that the salaried class is facing difficulties and I assure you that we want to [improve] the economic situation so that we are able to further increase people's salaries," he said, adding that inflation was presently a global issue which Pakistan could largely do little about.
"Pakistan imports it. So what can we do in Pakistan," he remarked.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa accompanied the prime minister to meet with armed forces to commemorate the multiple security personnel who were martyred during last week's terrorist attacks on two FC bases in Balochistan.
"I am in Naushki today to give army jawans the message that the entire nation is standing with them," the prime minister said, commending the army on their valiant performance against terrorism during these 'challenging times.'
The prime minister said that the government would increase investment and development work in Balochistan, including funds for the construction linking Chaman, Quetta and Karachi.
