No Further Rises In Petrol Prices: Government Urges Public To Avoid Rumours

Government figures are responding to rumours of further increases in fuel prices and a possible shortage of petroleum products by describing them as “speculation” that is “absolutely false.” According to Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, “The government has not taken any decision regarding a further increase in petrol and diesel prices.”

For his part, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail took to Twitter to send the same message. He also emphasised that there would be no increase in prices today, saying that there was no plan or summary for it. “Channels running these tickers are doing a disservice to their viewers,” he said.

Marriyum Aurangzeb has urged people to “Avoid spreading rumours.”
