Clashes erupted between lawyers and police near the Lahore High Court on Wednesday during a protest demonstration staged by the legal fraternity against the division of civil courts and terrorism cases against their fellow lawyers.
The protesting lawyers attempted to gain entry to the high court by dismantling the barriers around its premises and throwing stones at the police, who baton-charged them.
Meanwhile, the police baton charged and began shelling to disperse the lawyers, impeding their progress to the court's main gate.
The cops are also deploying water cannons to prevent the lawyers from advancing ahead.
A heavy contingent of police has been deployed outside the judges' gate of the Lahore High Court, and two of the protesting lawyers have been arrested.
Meanwhile, traffic flow on Mall Road and surrounding roads has been seriously impacted.
