Punjab's Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned on Wednesday that the province will experience a heatwave beginning today.
According to PDMA, the mercury is expected to rise by three to five degrees Celsius between May 8 and May 10. Furthermore, the region is predicted to have thunderstorms and heavy showers this week.
The authority said that South Punjab is likely to receive heavy rains from May 10 to 11, adding that thunderstorms are forecast in most districts of Punjab.
PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia advised the people to exercise caution in light of the forecasted warmth and heavy rainfall, stating that thunderstorms pose a hazard to numerous crops across the province.
According to the official, "The district administrations across Punjab have been informed about the weather situation."
The PDMA's warning comes after the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted a rain-duststorm/thunderstorm from May 10 to 12 in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal.
Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar are expected to experience heavy rains on May 10 and 11, according to the Met Office.
