The military on Thursday said that 'inimical propagandists' trying to drive a wedge between the state institutions and the public was indicative of their 'mounting desperation' and will only result in more humiliation of such elements.
This was discussed on Thursday as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir presided over the 259th Corps Commanders' Conference (CCC) at the General Headquarters (GHQ), a statement from the military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) read.
The conference reviewed the emerging situation in the country.
Participants of the forum reiterated the army's resolve to defend Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity against all kinds of direct and indirect threats.
The commanders re-affirmed that "inimical propagandists' desperate attempts to cause a wedge between the state institutions and public indicate their mounting desperation and will only result in more humiliation of such elements".
With cross-border terror attacks in recent days, the conference participants were briefed about the prevalent geo-strategic environment, challenges to national security and their strategy in response to the evolving threat.
The commanders resolved that all terrorists, their facilitators and abettors, working on the behest of hostile forces to destabilise Pakistan, would be dealt with the full might of the state.
Economic development
The conference reiterated its support for efforts in uplifting socioeconomic growth under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
They wholeheartedly supported assistance for the government in curbing all illegal activities which hamper economic stability, growth and investors' confidence.
During the conference, a need was also emphasised for the speedy development of the economic potential of the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) and border districts of Balochistan for sustainable peace and growth.
The Corps commanders paid rich tribute to shuhadas, including officers and men of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and citizens who laid their lives for the country's safety, security and territorial integrity.
Fateha was offered for the martyrs, and it was reiterated that the state and its armed forces would continue to hold the shuhadas and their families in the highest of esteem, honouring them with utmost respect and dignity.
The commemoration of Defence and Martyrs Day on September 6 across the country by all segments of the society was appreciated.
COAS stressed maintaining high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and achieving excellence during the training of the formations.
He commended the commanders for their constant focus on the well-being of their soldiers and maintenance of morale, which constituted the foundation of the Army's operational readiness.
