Jamaat-e-Islami's (JI) chief Siraj ul Haq was defeated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidate Muhammad Bashir Khan by more than 20,000 votes in the NA-6 (Lower Dir-I) constituency.

Haq received 52,545 votes, while his opponent received 76,259 votes and won the seat.

JI chief Siraj ul Haq, PTI-backed independent candidate Muhammad Bashir Khan, PML-N Rooh Ullah Khan, PPP Muhammad Hanif Khan, ANP Bahadar Khan, and JUI Muhammad Sher Khan contested for the NA-6 seat.

The NA-6 constituency includes Lal Qila Tehsil, Samarbagh Tehsil, Munda Tehsil, and Balambat Tehsil, but excludes the Rabat Union Council of Lower Dir District.

In the 2018 general elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Mehboob Shah won by 63,440 votes, while Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal's (MMA) Molana Asadullah secured second place with 36,665 votes.

The constituency's overall population is 1,650,183, with 457,075 registered voters, comprising 253,972 males and 203,103 females.
