Those injured in Friday's attack include six Saudi nationals, three Bangladeshis and one Sudanese. It was confirmed that five of those wounded suffered minor injuries. Sources in the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) have stated that the attack, targeting the facade windows of the airport, was carried out by a drone-based weapon. Moreover, another attack was foiled as an explosives-laden drone was intercepted by security forces earlier today.
While Yemen's Houthi armed movement has claimed such attacks on Saudi targets in the past, they have not yet claimed responsibility for these latest attacks. Iran-backed Houthi forces have cited the Saudi-led coalition's involvement in the fighting in Yemen, particularly bombing from the air, which is aimed at restoring the previous regime to power.
