Speaking to the media, the PML-N's Shehbaz Sharif noted:
“This is not an easy path; we will have to commit all our energies to it, work, day and night, and only then can we take the country back to the state it was in during 2018 — after that, we can take the country towards progress.”
Responding to a question, Shahbaz said if Fazl calls for a long march against the government, he and his party would back him.
Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman stated that the opposition alliance, which he leads, remained committed to its originally stated goal from the previous year, which is the ouster of the current government. He announced major rallies by the opposition movement to take place in Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan this month.
Citing the economic malaise and financial difficulties being faced by ordinary people, the PDM chief said: “The people want to get rid of the government which has been forced on them, and to resolve this issue, there is a need to hold elections at the earliest.” He also added: “The institutions have been ruined.”
Responding to a question by a reporter, Shehbaz Sharif said that the PML-N would support another long march against the sitting government, if Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman were to announce it.
