A military officer and a soldier embraced martyrdom as an intelligence-based operation conducted by the military in Zhob targeted a suspected hideout of terrorists.

According to a statement issued by the military's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Monday, an operation was conducted against a suspected hideout of terrorists in the Sambaza area of Zhob district in Balochistan between the nights of October 8 and 9.

During the operation, the terrorists were surrounded. As the security forces closed the circle around the terrorists, an exchange of fire ensued between the two sides.

In the intense exchange of fire, 31-year-old Major Syed Ali Raza Shah (from Sargodha) and 38-year-old Havaldar Nisar Ahmed (from Vehari) embraced Shahadat.

At least five terrorists were also killed in the exchange of fire.

"Security forces of Pakistan are indebted and proud of our brave men and pay homage to their chivalry and sacrifices for the motherland, which further strengthens our resolve to uproot the menace of terrorism from the country," the ISPR said.

It added that following the exchange of fire, a sanitization operation was launched in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists or their facilitators.
