Shahrukh Jatoi was convicted of gunning down a young man named Shahzaib Khan in Karachi in 2012. According to reports, Jatoi has been staying at the hospital for the past 20 months. News channels quoted sources as saying that a high official of Sindh had facilitated his transfer to the hospital.
Following the reports about his presence in the hospital, the hospital's administrator told media that Shahrukh Jatoi was discharged on Monday morning. He added that two policemen were present with him and he was not allowed to freely move out of the hospital during his stay.
However, some news reports have quoted sources as saying that Jatoi was not in the jail for more than two and a half years. The Central Jail administration merely wrote letters to inquire about his condition, the sources added.
In 2019, Shahrukh Jatoi and two other accused were convicted of murdering and awarded death sentence, which was later converted to life imprisonment.
