A blast on Peshawar's Board Bazar road killed two people and injured another, police officers said on Sunday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi said the bomb disposal unit's (BDU) report found that it was not a suicide bombing.
"An explosion occurred during the delivery of explosives. Three people were transporting the explosives; two were killed in the blast, and one was injured," he added.
According to Khyber Teaching Hospital spokesperson Sajjad Khan, the injured person is in serious condition and is being treated at the hospital.
The bodies have also been shifted to the hospital, he added.
Counter-terrorism officials (CTD) and rescue workers are also present to gather evidence. An investigation into the incident is underway, and police have sealed off the area.
Board Bazar is a popular route in Peshawar with significant traffic. However, at the moment of the blast, traffic was sluggish.
Earlier, SSP Abbasi stated that explosives on a bike were detonated this morning in Nasir Bagh.
"We also found a mangled body, and our bomb disposal squad is inspecting the scene. We are investigating if it was a suicide bombing or a device put on a motorcycle," he added.
Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the event and directed that the Inspector General (IG) submit a report.
