The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday claimed that party leader Usman Dar was ‘abducted’ by "unknown persons" from Karachi’s Malir Cantt area.

PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub claimed Dar was kidnapped from Malir Cantt "by unknown people at 4:30pm today" on the social networking site X, previously known as Twitter.

Ayub said, "He has reportedly been taken to an unknown location," noting that the police were claiming Dar was not in their custody.

The PTI also demanded Dar's prompt recovery and strongly denounced what it called his "abduction and forced disappearance."

According to the PTI’s president in Karachi, the caretaker Sindh government is to blame since it "continues the fascist trend set by the PPP government."

Dar claimed in August that his family members, including women, had been left stranded after his Sialkot home, factory, and enterprises had been blocked.

Dar said that all of his holdings and all of the family enterprises had been sealed by the government. This included his home, factory, and other types of properties. He had claimed that women and children were compelled to travel on foot.

He had stated, "The state is committing highhandedness against him and his family members, adding that he would pray for justice to be served on those who had mistreated his mother.

If the courts would take the case and ensure that he would be given a fair trial, he had stated that he would be prepared to appear in court. Dar has also pleaded with the chief justice to render justice in the case.

PTI Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9 resulted in widespread violence and saw important military installations come under attack, on the basis of which the state had launched a severe crackdown against his party.

Dar’s house was previously raided in March by the Punjab police in a province-wide crackdown on hundreds of PTI workers.
