In a letter, a copy of which is available with The Friday Times - Naya Daur, the SAPM informed the Punjab Sports DG that a PTI rally at the venue would wreak havoc at Astroturf there. This, Tarar said, was valued at millions of rupees.
The artificial turf, he said, was exclusive to sporting activities. Tarar urged the official to stop PTI workers from congregating at the venue. He also sought action against those responsible for granting the PTI permission to organise at the stadium.
Through his legal representatives, Tarar warned the official permission for the rally must be revoked if granted by him or on his behalf since this had legal repercussions under pertinent provisions of the 1999 National Accountability Ordinance. This, he said, was akin to "misusing authority by disregarding law". Tarar said it was perturbing to note how some bureaucrats had been using government resources without any legal sanction.
