A video has emerged which reveals how 40 of the world's leading ladies flew to New York at their own expense for the iconic shoot.

British Vogue have revealed the incredible logistics involved behind outgoing editor Edward Enninful's epic final cover shoot.  Edward, 51, the first male and first black editor of the publication, announced in June that he would be stepping down to take on a new global role at publisher Conde Nast.

As per a report, "the project was so secret that Enninful covered the glass walls of his office in Vogue House in brown paper to escape prying eyes. He chose the 40, all of whom had been a cover star during his controversial editorship, and personally emailed them within days of the announcement last June that he was stepping down."

A behind the scenes video shared on the magazine's Instagram account shows the 40 legends assembling in a New York studio. A post about the cover stated: "The end of an era. After six and a half years and 153 cover stars – including the 40 legendary women who were photographed together in New York for our March 2024 issue – behold @Edward_Enninful’s 76th and final edition of @BritishVogue. Bonded by magnificence, purpose and a previous appearance on the cover, a sisterhood of megastars gathered for a once-in-a-lifetime photoshoot. When the initial idea for the cover was ignited, there was only one question: would 40 of the most booked and blessed women on earth actually make it to one studio in Manhattan, on one day in December, to take one image together? Spoiler alert: they came. From London, New York, Paris, Milan and Los Angeles, they materialised as if from a dream. Because who else could get 40 of the greatest talents from fashion, Hollywood and beyond in one room for a show of unity but Edward?"
