Among those who have been identified in the photograph are Dost Muhammad sitting first from left, Govind Singh sitting third from left, Nanak Chand standing second from left, and Risaldar Ghulam Jilani Khan standing second from right.

Risaldar Ghulam Jilani Khan is the grandfather of Ms Noreen Ghaznavi Mirza, who contributed this picture.

The centennial of World War I is being commemorated around the world. Afghanistan remained neutral in the war, but was seen as a threat by the British. The third Ango-Afghan war began a year after the World War 1, in 1919.
