Julian Moazzam James, an SSG Commando Officer belonging to the Christian community, has been promoted to the rank of Major General. For the first time in the 76-year history of Pakistan, a Christian commando army officer has been promoted to the rank of Major General. Before him, two other Christian military officers had also become two-star generals, of which Major General Julian Peter was the first and Major General Noel Israel Khokhar was the second Christian military officer. Brigadier Julian Moazzam James is the first SSG Commando Christian officer to be made a two-star general.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Major General Julian Moazzam James on his promotion. In his message, he said that the services of the Christian community for the development and defense of Pakistan cannot be forgotten. Major General Julian Moazzam James' skills and hard work are a beacon for the younger generation.
Bishop Azad Marshall wrote on X, “It's a day of immense pride for Christians in Pakistan as we celebrate the promotion of a remarkable individual to the rank of Major General. Making history as the first SSG Christian Commando Officer, Major General Julian Moazzam James, in the 76-year history of Pakistan.”
He further stated, “This promotion by the Pakistan Army to a Christian army officer is an important milestone that has made our community proud.”
It is pertinent to mention here that this week, 22 Brigadier-rank officers have been promoted to the rank of Major General, including Major General Julian Moazzam James. The Pakistan Army Promotion Board has approved these promotions.
In the beginning of this year, Helen Mary Roberts, a female military officer belonging to the Christian community in the Pakistan Army, was promoted to the rank of Brigadier. Brigadier Helen Mary Roberts was the first woman military officer from the Christian community to receive this honor for the first time in 76 years of Pakistan's history. Brigadier Helen Mary Roberts belongs to the Medical Corps of the Pakistan Army.
